The purpose of some networks doesn't include monetizing their online community, but for many others, it is. Because of that, we've made the monetization feature-set something network owners add on to their network.
Step 1: Activate The Monetization Addon
Log in to your Control Center (how to)
Click the "Upgrade & Addons" button at the bottom of the right-side menu
Find the "Monetization" addon, and click "+ Add"
In the Checkout view, agree to terms, and click "Agree & Activate Feature"
You will see a confirmation that you've successfully added Monetization
Done!
Step 2: Connect a Stripe Account
Now that the Monetization addon is activated (nicely done), the "Monetization" section has added to your Control Center's right-side menu. Clicking on any of the sections under it (Transactions, Subscriptions, and Promotions) will bring up a window asking you to connect a Stripe account.
In the pop-up window that appears if you don't have a Stripe account connected, click the "Connect Stripe Standard" button.
You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s onboarding flow for connecting accounts.
Either:
Log in to an existing Stripe account, or
Create a new Stripe account if you don’t have one yet.
Follow Stripe’s step‑by‑step instructions to complete setup.
Once complete, you'll be redirected back to your Honeycommb network, where all monetization features are now available.
New features unlocked with Monetization
Once Monetization is turned on and your Stripe account is connected, new tools and sections become available across your Control Center.
Monetization section
The Monetization area is unlocked in the Control Center and includes:
Transactions: A centralized transactions table showing subscription activity (and other monetized transactions as they’re supported), with clear visibility into statuses like completed, refunded, and failed.
Subscriptions: Tools to create, manage, and monitor subscription plans and recurring revenue.
Read: Subscriptions Overview to start setting up and activating subscriptions.
Promotions: Built‑in promotion and promo code features to support discounts, limited‑time offers, and campaigns.
For more information, read: Monetization Overview
Paid Events
When creating an Event, a new RSVP option becomes available:
Paid Event: Set a dollar amount on an event and require payment during RSVP
This makes it easy to run ticketed events, workshops, or one‑off paid experiences directly within your network.
For more information, read: Paid Events in Honeycommb
Member Billing view
On each member’s profile in the Control Center, a new Billing section becomes available. This allows admins to:
Quickly understand a member’s payment and subscription history, including lifetime revenue earned from that member
View all transactions associated with an individual member
Manage the member's subscriptions, including gifting a subscription
