Requirements to Offer Paid Events

Before you can create a paid event, your network must:

  • Have the Monetization add-on enabled

  • Have a Stripe account connected to the network

How Paid Events Work

When creating an event, simply select "Paid Event" in RSVP Settings. To learn more about creating events, read: Events: How To Create & Edit

  • You set a price for access per member for the event

  • Event details aren't shared with members until they purchase access to the event. Hidden event details include:

    • Physical location

    • Online meeting link

    • Livestream link

  • For the web application, the transaction experience happens within the app. Mobile app users are pushed to a mobile web view in their default browser.

Once a member completes their purchase:

  • Event details are shared on the event page

  • The member is automatically marked as “I’m Going”

  • An email receipt is sent to the member's inbox

  • A confirmation email, with add to calendar technology, is sent to their inbox

  • An invoice is saved in the member's account Settings > Invoices

Tracking and Managing Event Payments

Track event payments by;

  • going to Transactions in Control Center > Monetization. Filter transactions using the "One-time" quick filter, or by "Product" in the filter drawer.

  • going to the event page in Control Center > Events > Event - and by clicking on the RSVP tab.

Manage event payments, like refunding and payment retry, in Stripe. Honeycommb makes it easy to find that payment in Stripe by going to Transactions in Control Center > Monetization;

  • find the transaction you want to manage

  • Click the ••• (more menu) button on the transaction

  • Click "View in Stripe"

When to Use Paid Events

Events, in general, are a great way to offer premium member experiences, whether free or paid, but here are some thought on what paid events are ideal for:

  • Member-only Workshops or Skill trainings

  • Group coaching sessions

  • Live skill building intensives

  • Critiques and reviews

  • Special topic sessions wtih industry experts

  • Partner-lead trainings

  • New member onbaording

  • Local meetups

  • Retreats

The ways in which you can leverage paid events is endless. Remember, one of the primary values of having your own social network is an audience you can "campaign" to. Figure out what they value, know that they will pay for it, and put lots of it on the shelf!
