A light overview of subscription products

Updated this week

Honeycommb gives you the ability to create two different kinds of subscription products to sell in your network to earn recurring revenue;

  1. Community Subscription Products

  2. Group Subscription Products

Some communities only offer Community Subscription Products, some only offer Group Subscription Products, and some offer both.

This means that your community members can carry and manage (on their own) multiple subscription products, giving you more opportunities to earn revenue.

Each subscription product requires at least one "plan"; a recurring cost to subscribe to your product, either weekly, monthly, or annually.

Community Subscription Products

Community subscription products allow you to bundle access to your network and to "premium" items offered within it;

  1. Your network: A profile and the ability to engage (when the Free Community Subscription product is *NOT* activated)

  2. Premium Content

  3. Access to Premium Groups

  4. Content Creation

  5. Livestreaming

  6. Direct Messaging

  7. Premium Events

  8. Verified Profile

  9. Premium Groups (as many as you like)

  10. Premium Menu Items (as many as you like)

This means you can "pay wall" access to premium items in your network - like when a member clicks on a premium post, they'll be prompted with a paywall to subscribe to a community subscription product that gives them access to it.

You can create as many community product subscriptions as you like but a member can only subscribe to one community subscription at a time. You may want to think of your community subscription products as a "tiered" set of products that members can upgrade / downgrade to and from.

Consider your community subscription strategy, including pricing, before creating and activating community subscription products.

Group Subscription Products

Exactly what this sounds like - group subscription products sell access to premium groups in your network. You can give access to a single group or bundle access to multiple groups in a single Group Subscription Product.

First, create a "Premium" (group type = "Premium") group in your Control Center > Groups area before adding it to your Group Subscription Product.
