Community Subscription Products Overview

Community subscription products allow you to bundle access to your network and "premium" items offered in it. This means you can "pay wall" access to premium items in your network. When a member clicks on a premium item they don't have access to, they'll be prompted to subscribe to a community subscription that gives them access it.

Premium Items to Leverage in Your Community Subscription Products

  1. Your network: A profile and the ability to engage (when the Free Community Subscription product is *NOT* activated)

  2. Premium Content

  3. Access to Premium Groups

  4. Content Creation

  5. Livestreaming

  6. Direct Messaging

  7. Premium Events

  8. Verified Profile

  9. Premium Groups (as many as you like)

  10. Premium Menu Items (as many as you like)

Tiered Community Subscription Products

A member can only be subscribed to one community subscription product at a time. Because of this, you can think of your community subscription products as a tiered set of products that a member subscribes to one of.

Because of this, it's a good idea to design a holistic approach to the tiers you want to offer and at what cost.

Payment Plans & Free Trials

You will add at least one payment plan to each community subscription product: Weekly, monthly, or yearly. You can offer members a free trial on any product. Once a member uses a free trial they will not have access to a free trial on any other community subscription product.

Activating The Subscriptions Feature in Your Network

For your members to see and pay for subscription products in your network, you must first activate at least one subscription product with at least one plan (weekly, monthly, yearly). Create any other products you want to be available to members. When you're ready, go to Subscriptions > Settings -or- Subscription Products and click the "Activate Subscriptions" button. Members can now see, and pay for your subscription products!

Activating Your "Freemium" Community Subscription Product/Tier

The Subscriptions feature automatically comes with a single "Free Community Subscription" product for you to adjust and activate (or not). When activated, this subscription will be applied to every new registered member giving them limited access to your network, depending on the setting of this product. You can find, adjust, and activate this product in your Control Center > Subscriptions > Products - "Free Community Subscription".

Creating a Community Subscription Product

Once you have an idea of how to leverage premium aspects of your network, what you want to offer your community members, and pricing, it's time to create your Community Subscription Products. Don't worry! It's easy to create, activate, and offer your members subscription products so you can start delivering value and earning revenue!

  1. Create a new community subscription product

In your Control Center, go to: Subscriptions > Subscription Products, click the "Create New Subscription" button and select "Community Subscription".

  2. Give your product a name

This will be used throughout your network in selling and members managing their subscriptions. Make sure it makes sense amongst other subscription products.

  3. Give your product a description

This will be used to describe and express the value of this product in product lists and product views.

  4. Community Product Icon

Used in product lists and in the shopping cart experience to identify the product.

  5. Community Product Media

Used in the product view to help sell your subscription product. We recommend using a video to effectively communicate and sell your product.

  6. Community Product Free Trial

Turn on this feature and enter the number of days you would like to offer subscribers free access to this subscription. Note that members will need to enter their credit card details to get access and will be charged when their free trial is over.

  7. Community Product Pricing Plans

To activate your product, it must have at least one pricing plan, either weekly, monthly or yearly. You can choose to add separate pricing plans for each.
To add a pricing pan, click the "+ Add Recurring Plan" button, and select either Weekly, Monthly, or Annually. This will create a row for the recurring plan. Enter the amount you want to sell the subscription for based on the recurring plan (currency is based on your Stripe default currency).

  8. Add Features and Benefits

Turn on features and add benefits you want to include with this community product subscription. Once a member beings paying for this subscription, these features and benefits can not be removed but other can be added.
To learn more, read: "Community Subscription Product Features and Benefits"

  9. Displayed Benefits

To add displayed benefits to a new product, you must first click the "Save Changes" button. This will save your community subscription product but not activate it. Displayed Benefits will automatically be created based on your product selections. Add, edit, and rearrange any display benefits that you'd like to. For example, you may be offering merch as a part of your subscription and want to communicate that in the selling of your subscription product to your community.

  10. Activate your Product to Sell It

Once you have all the community subscription product requirements completed and are you're happy with what your subscription product is offering, click the "Activate Product" button on the top right of the page. You may also preview what the product will look like in web and mobile by clicking the "Preview" Button.

Note that activated subscription products won't be available to your community until the subscription feature itself is activated in your network.
