A "Verified" account is a concept made popular on social platforms like Twitter (now "X") and Instagram. In the context of those networks, it means; 1. A vetted and authentic account, 2. An account of significance, often a celebrity or brand.
Honeycommb carried these ideas over to the platform to serve networks where these concepts are helpful.
Verified System Overview
The Verified system can be turned off / on
Admins can make members Verified by editing their profile in the Control Center.
Verified members carry a ★ insignia with them throughout the network
Verified member profile headers have a slightly different design
The Discover section has a "Verified" tab, if the Verified system is on.
The word "Verified" can be changed to suit the concept of verified in the network.
Verified profile status can be sold in community subscription products.
Using The Verified Concept For Your Network
The concept of "verified", in its simplest form, is a way to create a distinction between two types of profiles in your network. This concept can really be driven home by changing the name of the word "Verified" when it appears in your network by using Honeycommb's "Language Customization" feature.
Some example uses of the Verified system
Where verified means coach. Coach profiles are edited to be verified and the word "verified" is translated to "coach".
Where verified means company. Company profiles are edited to be verified and the word "verified" is translated to "company".
Where verified means a profile has supported the network. Profiles that support the network are edited to be verified and the word "verified" is translated to "supporter".
How To Turn Off/On The Verified System
Is the concept of verified does not suit your network, you can easily turn it off.
Go to: Control Center > Community Settings > General & "Verified System" section.
Simply select "No Verified Profiles" and save changes. Profiles will not appear as verified in the network and the "Verified" tab in the Discovery area will no longer be present.
You can easily turn the system back on by selecting "Yes, verified profiles" and saving changes.
How To Edit a Member Profile To Make It Verified
To mark a profile as "Verified";
In the Control Center, go to: Members and search for the member you wish to make Verified.
Either select the member from the list of members by clicking on the member row to go to the member page -or- click the ••• button at the end of the row and select "Edit Member".
If on the member page, in the top right of the page you'll find the ••• button. Click on this button and select "Edit Member".
In the edit member page, scroll down to the "Verified" section, and select, "Yes, verified" and save changes.
Note that you can mark profiles as verified using automation with Zapier and webhooks and by "selling" verified profile status using community subscription products.
How To Translate The Word "Verified" To Something Else
A great way to provide strong context to what the concept of Verified means in your network is to change / translate the word "Verified" to something that supports your concept using Honeycommb's Language Customizations feature.
Go to : Control Center > Community Settings > Language Customizations
Scroll down to the "Application Translations" section
Scroll further down to the "Verified" section and add your translation for the singular use of your verified concept word.
Scroll to the next section, "Verifieds", and add your translation for the plural use of your verified concept word.
Save changes
