New (and overdue) to your Honeycommb network are direct message transactional emails. These emails are meant to not only inform your members of new messages they haven't seen but to also connect them to the value of being a member of your community, their connection with other community members, and you! The end result will be a more engaged community through high-value prompts that don't have to be created by network owners and admins.
Send Rules & Requirement
A direct message transactional email gets sent to members who receive a direct message in the network that;
The receiver agrees to receive messages from the sender.
Every DM conversation has its own settings that allow the receiver to block DMs from a sender.
The receiver hasn't read the DM within a 10-minute time frame. When a receiver reads the message, the Honeycommb system has a read receipt that gets triggered to let the system know whether they've read the DM or not.
The receiver has "New Direct Message" turned on in their email settings to receive emails when a new direct message is sent.
No more than one direct message transactional email per direct message conversation will be sent to a member every 60 minutes.
Network Requirements
Every Honeycommb network can change its Direct Messaging Model. This allows network admins to select how they want the rules of Direct Messaging to work in the network. One of the options is "Off" which hides the direct messaging feature in the network.
Direct Messaging Model must be set to either; 1. Everyone, 2. Followers
With its many requirements, the Honeycommb product team has been working towards delivering this product roadmap item for some time now. We're extremely happy to finally bring this new feature to your networks to increase the value for your members in being a part of your community. For network owners, the aim is to increase value for you in the areas of engagement and growth by way of engagement.
