Use Menu Items to make a group’s navigation match its purpose. Native group destinations include Posts, Chat, Members, and Events. Admins can choose which destinations are visible and how they are named and ordered.
Before you begin
Group navigation customization is available to every customer on every plan.
You must be a network admin to group admin to configure the group.
Configuration happens in Control Center on web.
Members see the configured result on web, iOS, and Android member applications.
Open the group editor
In Control Center, open Groups.
Select the group you want to configure.
Choose Edit Group.
Select Menu Items.
The same Edit Group view also contains Settings, including Allow Posting, and Admins for the group’s admin assignments.
Change an existing menu item
Find the menu item in the table.
Use the row controls to show or hide it, edit its name or destination, or change its position.
Review the order, name, target, and link shown in the table.
Confirm the updated order, name, target, and visibility in the table.
The updated item appears in the group navigation for members.
Add a custom menu item
From Menu Items, open New Group Menu Item.
Enter the Menu Item Name.
Choose a supported destination type.
Enter the Link.
Select Create.
Return to the menu-item table to confirm its placement and visibility.
What members will see
Members see the menu items that are visible for the group, in the order set by the admin. The configured navigation is used across web, iOS, and Android.
Group access remains unchanged
Open, gated, closed, private, and premium groups have their own access rules. Navigation and posting controls apply within the group’s access settings.
Important posting behavior
Renaming or reordering Posts does not change who can publish.
Hiding Posts prevents everyone—including group admins—from posting in that group.
To keep Posts visible but prevent members from creating posts, change Allow Posting in Settings.
Troubleshooting
A menu item is missing for members
Confirm that the item is visible in Menu Items and that its target and link are valid.
Members cannot publish
Check whether Posts is visible, then review Allow Posting in Settings.
An older client does not show the expected navigation
Confirm the member is using a supported, current version of the Honeycommb client.

Events and a single-tab group
Events is a native group destination. Make it visible in Menu Items to let members browse the group's live and upcoming events and past events. You can rename and reorder Events like the other native destinations.
For a focused content space, keep Posts visible and hide the destinations you do not need. When only one tab is visible, the tab bar disappears and the group shows that content directly. For example, rename Posts to Updates and use the List layout for a compact company updates space.
The post creation button is at the bottom of the group. Renaming Posts does not change its function, and hiding it still removes posting from the member applications for everyone.
