Understanding Event RSVP settings options when creating events

RSVP settings give you the flexibility needed to publish events of all kinds to your community.

Four RSVP Setting Types

Does not require RSVP

Any community member can see the event details and freely join without RSVP'ing. Members can still RSVP to add themselves to the RSVP list and receive the RSVP email that adds the event to their calendar and keeps them informed of any changes.

Requires RSVP

Community members can not see the event details to participate in the event unless they RSVP. Once they RSVP, the event details are revealed to the member, they are added to the RSVP list, and if they select "Going", they will receive an RSVP transactional email that adds the event to their calendar and keeps them informed of any changes.

External RSVP

This lets you direct members to an external link if you’re using another tool to manage your event, while still using your community to promote it. The standard RSVP button is replaced with your custom link and the button text you choose.

Paid Event

The Paid Event RSVP option is only available for networks with the Monetization add-on enabled and a connected Stripe account. This setting allows you to charge a price per seat.

Members can purchase access to the event details (physical location, online link, or livestream). Once purchased, they’re automatically marked as “I’m Going,” receive an email receipt, and can view their invoice in their account settings.

Event RSVP's In Your Network

For events with "Does Not Require RSVP" or "Requires RSVP" enabled, members can see who has RSVP’d by clicking the “# Going · # Interested” link below the event media. This list is not available for events using "External RSVP" or "Paid Event" settings.

RSVP's In Your Control Center

Administrators can view their event's RSVPs by viewing the event in their Control Center by going to Events, selecting an event, and viewing the "RSVP's" tab.

RSVP's can be further managed by removing and adding RSVP's.

RSVP Transactional Email

Members who RSVP "I'm Going" or "Interested" receive an email with calendar integration technology that can sync with common calendars.

Editing RSVP Settings

You can edit RSVP settings after an event is published.

Changing any event from "RSVP Required" to either "RSVP not required" or "External RSVP" will remove all RSVP's from the event. This will also produce an event update transactional email to inform RSVP'ers that the event has changed.
