March 20, 2025: Child Safety Policy

A new policy is now included with all networks and available for networks owners to edit

Updated today

In support of platform safety, regulatory expectations, and app store compliance, Honeycommb has added a Child Safety Policy to all networks. This policy is now available to network owners and may be reviewed and edited at any time.

This update was introduced to meet Google Play App Store requirements, which require applications distributed on Google Play to clearly document measures related to the protection of minors and child safety practices.

Policy Availability and Control

  • Applied to all networks by default
A Child Safety Policy has been added to every Honeycommb network to ensure baseline compliance and visibility.

  • Editable by network owners
Network owners retain full control over the policy content and are responsible for updating it to accurately reflect their community’s audience, moderation practices, and applicable legal obligations.

  • Required for Google Play distribution
The presence of a Child Safety Policy supports continued availability of Honeycommb-powered Android applications in the Google Play App Store.

Included Template Policy

As a convenience, Honeycommb provides a generic Child Safety Policy template. This template was developed based on commonly adopted child safety policies across social and community platforms and is intended to serve as a starting point only.

Network owners should:

  • Review and modify the policy to align with their community’s specific use case

  • Ensure the policy accurately reflects how reports, moderation, and enforcement are handled

  • Seek legal guidance where additional compliance requirements may apply

This update reflects Honeycommb’s ongoing commitment to trust, safety, and compliance, while maintaining flexibility for network owners to define and enforce policies appropriate to their communities.

Thank you!
